The working group has been dedicated to cardiovascular MRI since 1996, establishing itself as one of the pioneering groups in the field. During this time, the working group has established numerous research results and made significant discoveries that are now widely implemented in clinical settings worldwide. With the trust and support of the former Director of the University Cardiology Department at the Campus Buch, Professor Rainer Dietz, the group consisting of Matthias Friedrich, Jeanette Schulz-Menger, and Oliver Strohm was able to establish cardiac MRI examinations at the Franz-Volhard Clinic.
Since 2004, Jeanette Schulz-Menger has been leading this group as its head. Currently, the group comprises a team of more than 40 persons, including scientifically trained employees, technical assistants, study nurses, and doctoral students. Collaboration and interaction with physicists, computer scientists, and mathematicians, both domestically and internationally, are essential to our research efforts. Our ever-expanding network provides an excellent platform for fostering and continually implementing new ideas.
Since 2000, we have been offering regular courses in cardiac MRI to provide ongoing, high-quality training for physicians worldwide.
In addition to conducting our own clinical studies, which benefit from the direct connection to a cardiology department within a 1000-bed maximum care hospital (HELIOS Clinic, Berlin-Buch), our group regularly supports multi-center studies and collaborates on projects with industry partners (e.g. Siemens Healthcare) as well as neighboring research institutes (e.g. Max Delbrück Center).
Our working group is part of the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC), which is a joint institution between Charité and the MDC Berlin.
